I’m Here!

Now What?!

Please read this section in it’s ENTIRETY prior to leaving the house for your first swimming lesson.

Either print this page out, or bookmark it for reference when you arrive.

Too many parents are NOT READING this page…OR…are forgetting key information on this page and are confused when they arrive. This is VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION as proven by the number of parents who do not read it or remember it or bookmark it or print it out as reference for when they arrive for lessons and spend too much of their first class confused.

A couple of notes BEFORE you get here though…

  1. Please enter the FULL address! If you don’t enter the word “Echo” into GPS as well you will go to the WRONG HOUSE!

  2. The FASTEST route to the house is USUALLY avoiding Green Valley Parkway. They’ve added a lot of new lights and have various events at the new Dollar Loan Center Arena various times of day. So as a resident I usually take the following routes as a much faster way home most days.
From the North: take the Valle Verde exit from the 215 (less lights and congestion)
From the South: W Horizon Ridge to Valle Verde.

  3. Check a navigation app like Waze to see if there are any accidents, events or road work slowing down traffic so you know if you need to leave earlier than usual.

  4. Is your child a teen or an advanced swimmer? They need to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early and spend that time stretching so they are all warmed up to swim. They need to stretch in order to be able to perform the proper swimming techniques I’m teaching them. Stiff muscles restrict their ability to accomplish proper form. I hate wasting swimming lesson time with stretching. Let’s swim! :)

PARKING

Do NOT block, even partially, my neighbor's driveway. She will have your car towed as it is illegal to block driveways when parking in the street. There is PLENTY of legal parking around my house. There is no excuse to block her driveway illegally even partially.

Also, if you park in front of my neighbor’s house, do not cut across her yard. Please use the sidewalk and my driveway to access my backyard. She lets me know every time someone trespasses on her property and I don’t like upsetting her. She’s actually really nice.

I like to reserve my GARAGE driveway for

  • HANDICAPPED PARKING

  • Parents with baby strollers and multiple kids to wrangle

  • Parents running late and no close parking

Hi! You are here! Now…

how to get to the POOL!

The pedestrian gate is on the left side of the house.

It’s the pretty gate with the sun design on it.

It will be left UNLOCKED for you.

There is NO GATE CODE. I do NOT give out the gate code as too many parents show up to my house for lessons on my days off expecting lessons that they do not have scheduled. I can’t unexpectedly have people walking into my yard 24/7/365.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPENING THE GATE:

The gate swings OUTWARD when you are looking at this green sun side of the gate. (As per city code guidelines.)

In order to OPEN the gate you need to push down on the handle lever and then PULL the gate door towards you. That will open the gate for you and your child/ren to walk through it.

If you press the handle down and then PUSH the gate forward it will not move and it will not open. Many have tried. All have failed to open the gate that way. That will give you the impression that the gate is locked. It is not! All you have to do is push down on the handle and PULL the handle towards you and you will notice the gate is no longer “locked” and the backyard is now accessible.

Sometimes a previous family locks it by accident when they are walking through it.

If for some reason it really is locked please call and/or text me and I will come unlock it. I may not see your call or text immediately as I may be holding a child in the pool teaching them how to swim. I will definitely see your text by the time your class starts and you haven’t shown up. Or the previous family will let you in on their way out if I haven’t seen your message before then.

Do NOT ring the front door doorbell.

I am in the backyard in the pool. I cannot hear the front doorbell ring.

No one will answer the door.

If you ring the front doorbell that will let me know that you did not read this link and maybe the other links, and are not prepared for swimming lessons.

Please do not call me and tell me no one is answering the front door.

I will only acknowledge that fact. I’m still not going to answer the front door.

  • This is the sunroom. When you arrive proceed to the sunroom to wait for your class time to start. Please make note of which room is the sunroom so you don’t enter a private part of the house by accident. You may also wait outside for your class to start as long as you do not distract the class in progress.

  • The sunroom has wi-fi, charging station, microwave, dining room table, books, games, and reverse osmosis water fountain, and ice maker for your use. (Bring your own water bottle.)

  • There is a bathroom students and family can use in the house. Ask me and I’ll show you where it is located. You cannot access it via the sunroom.

  • One of the key benefits of lessons at my pool is limited distractions. If you bring siblings keep them in the sunroom so they don't distract the student(s) in class. You can see and hear us in class from the sunroom, but we can't see or hear you.

  • If you choose to spend the class in the sunroom, 5 minutes before the end of class come out so we can show off all the new skills we learned/practiced in class.

You are welcome to sit outside on the canopy swing or the chairs outside of the sunroom and observe class as well.

And YES, feel free to bring family members to observe class. We love showing off to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, etc.

If you see me on my phone or iPad in between classes I am taking notes on the previous class and looking up my notes on your child’s previous lessons.

I don’t have much time between classes to type my notes for the previous class so I need to focus while I’m typing. If I don’t enter my notes right away I may forget to do it later. It’s important that I take notes on each class so I don’t forget important things for the next class.

Please ask your child/ren to wait until I’m off my phone or iPad before talking to me.

I don’t like to be rude so I stop taking notes to answer them and it takes me a lot longer to finish my notes and that can take up your class time.

My students are so super excited to start lessons they just want to start talking to me as soon as they arrive. I love that, but it makes taking notes super difficult to focus and remember everything I want to note and it ends up taking me a lot longer to type in the notes.
