Building My Pool…
an adventure
Building a pool today cost 2x - 3x more than just 1-2 years ago. But out here in the desert there’s not much one can do in their back yard in the heat of the summer without either a pool or a ton of shade. So even though it does cost a fortune, it can be worth it if done correctly.
I was the contractor on my own pool. It sounds like an overwhelming thing to do and I did not enter into this position easily, but having gone through it I realized, that even if you hire a “Big Box Pool Company” you STILL end up doing all the same work and making all the same decisions I did, except you paid someone else an extra $10-$20k for the job title, but you still did the job yourself!
I am so happy I did do it myself. I was able to get exactly what I wanted. If someone said no, I found someone else who said yes. Now a full year after swimming in my pool I have zero regrets. I am happy with how everything turned out. I personally don’t know any other pool owner who can say that.
I get a LOT of questions from people who want to build a pool. I have lots of knowledge and opinions to share. I thought the best way to do this was to create this portfolio. People can walk through the build process step-by-step with me and learn from my experience and mistakes.
